Parish buying service to be launched
27 January 2012 The Church of England has announced the launch of the Parish Buying website on 30 January. This service will enable parishes to save money on a range of products and services by making use of collective purchasing across the Church of England. It also provides reassurance that suppliers have been vetted and any contracts reviewed. The PCC Treasurers of the Deanery expressed the hope for an initiative of this type when they met in 2010. 19 January 2012 Westminster City Council has announced that it will rescind its proposals to introduce Sunday parking charges following widespread opposition from businesses, the public and the Church. It will instead create a commission to consider "the most effective way that the Council can support business, lessen congestion and improve the quality of life of residents living in the West End". Local Church of England engagement with the Council was led in large part by the Rector and Churchwardens of St George's, Hanover Square.
