The Church of England in central London

If you are visiting central London then you will almost undoubtedly set foot inside our deanery. Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, Downing Street, Covent Garden and St James's Park all fall within the deanery boundary.

The churches of the Deanery together conduct well over 200 services every week - including nearly fifty on each Sunday of the year. Please click here to find the nearest church to Westminster's major landmarks.

Many central London churches are open to visitors. Sundays, of course, are generally reserved for worship (you will be very welcome to join any of our church services) and visiting hours during the week might also be affected by the times of church services.

Who is welcome at Church of England services?

The Church of England's mission is to everybody who finds themselves within its parish boundaries - not just members of the Church of England.

Parish churches in the Church of England generally welcome people of all faiths (and those who are unsure) to visit them and to join them in worship. You will normally be given a service sheet or book when you arrive at the church to help you to know what to do.

Receiving Holy Communion is different because of its very special place in the Church's life. Baptised and communicant members of churches which subscribe to the doctrine of the Holy Trinity and are in good standing with their own church may receive Holy Communion in the Church of England.
